Marc Jacobs and Yayoi Kusama met in 2006 when the stylist visited Japan. She showed a Louis Vuitton’s bag with classic monogram balls and Jacobs loved the pop art style that his pieces have won.

To announce the partnership, Louis Vuitton has launched a website that makes a trip around the world and the artist’s career still in 2011, and supports a retrospective exhibition, Kusama at Tate Modern Museum. The collection has influenced pop art, purses without monograms (which were replaced by the famous polka dots), vibrant colors and different, and very feminine.

“She introduced me to some ideas and my team complemented with suggestions of materials and shapes for bags, shoes and clothes. She liked them all, without exception”, said Marc Jabobs. The collection will be available in Louis Vuitton stores from July 10, after the opening of Kusama’s retrospective at the Whitney Museum in NY. In Brazil, it is expected that the first pieces land in August.
