I love the Pirelli Calendar 50th anniversary commemoration photoshoot by Patrick Dermachelier and Peter Lindbergh.
The Pirelli Calendar has become an institution of fashion, photography, and elegantly erotic in its past 50 years. In 2014, the Calendar celebrates its fiftieth year and to mark the occasion two great fashion photographers, Patrick Dermachelier and Peter Lindbergh have united with models like Miranda Kerr, Helena Christensen, Alessandria Ambrosio, and Alek Wek as well as other great names from the modelling world.
Vogue UK published a sneak peak gallery of images from the calendar and backstage, as a taster to the full calendar, which will be released in November. Clad in nothing but white shirts and high heels, Black jumpers or sensual bodies the models are sensual yet tasteful in group shots that remind us of a more tame version of the Vogue Italia cover from 1993 or Lindbergh’s cover from Vogue US in 1990.
Las year’s calendar was shot by Steve McCurry, who famously took the striking portrait of the green-eyed Afghan Girl for the cover of the National Geographic in 1985. Previous photographers to have worked on the renowned annual project include Karl Lagerfeld and Mario Sorrenti, while themes have varied from a celebration of the Vespa to ballet.
