If you are planning to travel to London for the next days you cannot miss the retrospective exhibition of Christian Louboutin. At the Design Museum you will see an installation celebrating 20 years of the French designer’s career. With over 200 shoes, a hologram performance with Dita Von Teese and material drawn from his personal archive, this exhibition is fashion must see.
Renowned for their vibrant red painted soles (which were apparently first concieved when the Louboutin coated the bottom of a stiletto with red nail varnish) these designer shoes take their inspiration from a variety of sources, many of which are explored in the Christian Louboutin exhibition. Themes such as cabaret and showgirls, fantasy and fairytale, art and architecture and landscape and travel are all reflected in the designs, alongside exhibits which demonstrate the craft of shoemaking, and the intricate handmade nature of the shoes in the Designs Museum’s Christian Louboutin exhibition.
The Christian Louboutin Exhibition London runs at the Design Museum, Shad Thames, Bermondsey, SE1 until 9 July.
