Frank Gehry, best known for his curvaceous buildings like the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA or the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, was recently comissioned by Tffany & Co., known for their beautiful and luxurious jewelry, to create a funky chess wich looks like a tiny Gehry-inspired cityscape. The architect, who has always been a chess lover, developed this project by creating 32 pieces of the game. Each one is a unique structure that can somentimes remind the Guggenheim Museum or its skyscraper at 8 Spruce Street in New York.
Gehry has said that what he likes most about his work is seen as “changing the architectural landscape” as the game unfolds. A real treat for fans of strategy games, available at Tiffany and Co. only request: from € 19,000.00. A check-mate to the bank account for most of us!
