If you are planning to travel to Italy next week for Milan Design Week save a few days to visit our momumental Rome and the new contemporary art project ZegnArt, an initiative by the italian Ermenegildo Zegna.
The project was inaugurated at the Museum MAXXI-National Museum of XXI Century Arts in collaboration with the museum and the Centre for Sustainable Fashion – London College of Fashion.
ZegnArt is structured set of activities of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group in a contemporary context. Included under this common designation are all the various projects implemented by the company in Italy and abroad in the field of visual arts, in collaboration with artists, curators, institutions and cultural institutions.

Lucy+Jorge Orta is a renowned duo famous for their exploration of “emerging issues within a contemporary society and their practice is driven by the principals of ethics and sustainability in fashion. Recurring themes, part of their body of work, are related round daily life such as survival, shelter and a sense of a nomadic lifestyle.”
Especially for MAXXI, the artists created tailor made tents and parachutes, video art performances and a series of characters known as ‘The Spirits’, that according to the curator have ”become the messengers of the noises and experiences of the urban daily life.”
ZegnArt will be hosted by various countries around the globe in the form of a triple structure. After Rome, Mumbai is the next destination. In 2013, Turkey will receive ZegnArt and in 2014 it will be Brazil’s turn.
