I love the Cape Town based art foundry that specializes in the casting of bronze sculpture utilizing both the lost wax as well as sand casting processes. Bronze Age is a multifunctional art foundry, specialising in the casting of bronze sculpture. For more than a decade, the foundry has cast the sculptural work of numerous local South African and international artists.
In 2005, a design studio was established within the foundry, headed by sculptor and owner, Otto du Plessis, and industrial designer Charles Haupt. Together they are embarking on a sculptural and design journey with the aim of fusing the two disciplines together.
Inspiration is taken from nature and natural curiosities and experimenting with process based techniques. The results regularly yield weird and magical, humorous yet elegant and collectible pieces of design art.
