Etienne Moyat is a French space planner, interior architect, cabinetmaker dedicated to the work with wood. The wall art pieces created by him are also a woodwork.
He has always shaped and sculptured wood to embellish interior spaces. In 2004 he fulfilled a longtime coming idea, opening his own workshop. He decided to follow a natural inspiration deeply anchered inside for a long time.
With his new workshop, he now sculpts full time. He was awarded the “Jeunes Créateurs” prize (Young Designers Award ), created by Ateliers d’Art de France (French craft professionals federation) in 2005.
“I have tamed the language of the fire, and worked on the shapes and textures of the wood. Gross and primitive art, nomad cultures, archeology, nature, energy and fluidity of shapes, are the inspiration for my creations and designs.
The simple fact of observing a spiece, a wood, tells me a lot about the life of the tree. It is my pleasure to share with you the story that trees are telling me.” says the artist.
