Among the eight designers to create a new modern design collection for Moncler, was Craig Green. Inspired by the iconic puffer jacket, the British fashion designer reinterpreted the brand’s iconic contemporary designs and created a series of luxury fashion pieces that resemble padded samurai armors and brightly colored inflatables.
London-born designer Craig Green established his namesake label in 2012 shortly after graduating from the Fashion Masters course at Central Saint Martins. He has since carved out a unique position amongst the city’s most innovative talents and continues to earn both critical and commercial success globally. And now he has just created contemporary design pieces for Moncler.
‘I have always explored ideas of protection and functionality within my work, something that is also at the core of Moncler’s heritage. I thought it would be interesting for these ideas to be pushed further, interpreting Moncler’s performance-based history, and developing design s with their years of technical knowledge and expertise.’says green.
Injecting flat sheets with down quilting, Craig Green uses a series of zips that allow the body to inhabit the garments and give them volume. Further defined by outlines printed on the outside, each fashion design piece for Moncler is clad in ripstop nylon, a light-weight nylon fabric with interwoven ripstop reinforcement threads in a crosshatch pattern.
