KAWS has collaborated with acute art for the launch of an expanded holiday, a series of augmented reality (AR) art sculptures that are being publicly exhibited in 12 major cities and locations of six continents during the month of March.
Using cutting-edge technology, this project represents a new art exhibition model that transcends the physical world and reduces transportation and travel for a global modern art world. Besides the public exhibition, the launch also includes an AR collectible edition and open edition for lease, which are available via acute art’s new platform for collecting and trading AR contemporary art.
Acute Art is a new digital art platform that transforms the way they collect, trade and lives with contemporary art. Together with KAWS, one of today’s most celebrated artists, they’re proud to launch a series of artworks that opens up a world of new possibilities.
EXPANDED HOLIDAY, the new augmented reality project by KAWS, consists of a global public exhibition as well as completely new AR sculptures that collectors can display, view, photograph and share through Acute Art app.
Invisible to the naked eye, the augmented reality art comes to life in your phone’s camera to reveal beautifully crafted sculptures by KAWS that interact seamlessly and playfully with the world around them.
The experience takes contemporary art out of the art gallery, onto the streets, and into people’s hands – challenging conventions about what constitutes a suitable canvas for an artist’s vision. In the process, it offers anyone anywhere the opportunity to enjoy modern art and interact with it on a uniquely personal level. The photos and videos that you capture and share add an extra dimension to the experience, making the platform a truly collaborative one.
