Founded in 1921 at Omegna, today Alessi is one of the most prominent and internationally renowned Italian Design Factories. Alessi will be exhibiting at Maison et Objet 2017 in Paris.
Over the years, the company has produced thousands of objects, many of which have become design icons. Alessi has collaborated with over two hundred world-famous designers and architects.
This time they lauched the Circus colleaction in collaboration with Marcel Wanders. About this collection Wanders says: “This circus is a sensory experience that never leaves you. It’s magical. It’s mystical. It’s larger than life.”
The kitchen accessories collection is a limited edition. The five figures are limited to 999 pieces and are described by Alessi as “table sculptures”. Made from steel plate, each one is named after a fictional circus member invented by Wanders, who is known for his flamboyant aesthetic.
With festivity, Marcel Wanders delivers iconic kitchenware designed to capture the spectacle only found under the big top. Using bold, geometric patterns of circles, stripes, conic shapes, and colours such as white, black, yellow, red and gold, each piece reminds of historical symbols from the circus universe resonating an experience of wonder and amusement.
Circus tents, clowns, elephants and strongmen are transformed into kitchenware and tableware. The collection includes five limited-edition figures based on common circus characters that each perform a different function, as well as 29 new tableware and kitchen products.
