K. Gretchen Greene is an artist specialized in metal, metal sculptures and furniture that also looks like an art piece. She uses different ways to work with the metal, like painting with heat or carving with lightning.

She bends steel to her will – heating, hammering, curling, overlapping and interlocking. Striving to create life and Seeking the limits of the tools and material. In her work, she sees all the other things she is, all the other things she has done. “As I carve and twist steel, face covered in soot, scraps of golden steel at my feet, I know I’m home.”
The result is large-scale compositions, bursting with protrusions and accretions, resemble futuristic foliage or water suspended by an alchemist’s spell. Drawing inspiration from nature and the passage of time, Greene creates sculptures whose biomorphic forms embody movement and seem to express states of transition.
