Sandra Shashou is a very creative artist that puts together in an unusual way ceramic pieces in golden, black and other attractive colors combination creating this way contemporary sculptures that we wouldn’t imagine to create from a very simple every day object.
Sandra Shashou is a Brazilian artist Original trained as a painter, but her work has taken a turn into sculpture “Broken”, as a series of abstract works by UK-based, Brazilian artist that has been brought to New York by the Dillion Gallery. Shashou hand-picks exquisite bone china sets, breaks them and transforms the spilintered fragents into gravity-defying compositions.
It must be at once heartbreaking to smash these lovely things to pieces! But perfection isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. Instead of collecting dust in a china cabinet or waiting for a buyer in an antique shop, these pieces are given not just a second chance, but are transformed into a completely new object. Art objects that anyone would like to have at home, contemporary sculptures that defy our imagination.
