This time we invited recognized designer Mario Cananzi to an exclusive interview and share his experiences with us. I’m sure you would like to know more about him and his creative mind, so see the full interview below.
How and why did you get into the design Industry? Where did you study, etc?
I started working in the design industry in the late eighties after studying architecture in Florence and after my degree in Design at Domus Academy in Milan.
How would you describe your design style? How varied are your designs? Do you have a signature touch with your designs?
I like innovation in design, and i hope this is my signature, i love the challenge of reinventing an object, I cannot stay without drawing, and I’m always working on something new, this is what I like in being a designer, the possibility of invention.
What do you love about being a designer?
You can always imagine a better object, possibly a better world, this possibility is a great form of freedom for my mind, and i feel good when i think to it.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
My design is a cannibal one, it feeds from other designs, I’m always been a great passionate about design and from design, my design is inspired.
What are some of your most popular designs? Tell us a bit about some of your designs and what you love about them. What’s your favorite and why?
My most popular designs are Tatlin for Edra and some designs for Vittorio Bonacina. Tatlin spaeks for itself, it was very innovative in 1989 when was presented in Milan salone del mobile. About my objects designed for Bonacina I like the craftsmanship of the wonderful manufacturers working there in Vittorio Bonacina & C.
Is there anything exciting that you are working on at the moment that you can tell us about?
Now I’m working on some Objects with an high technology content, i like this kind of work at the moment, but furniture is still my big love.
What is your philosophy on design and life?
My philosophy is to live “here and now” i know, easy to say, but worth a try
